7/24 Update on Backwards Compatibility Voting

Alright, so continuing on this Xbox 360 to One BC train, I thought I would do a little analysis.  This first iteration is weekly (8 days close enough), but we’ll see how much time I have to update this.  Basically, take votes from the previous week, go over the top 15 and the bottom.  Discuss trends and all of that fun stuff.  Let’s dive inside.

Comments and Analysis

Well, the first thing that should jump out at you is the Deadpool jump.  In raw votes, it was only 769, but the climb has been impressive from a game that was not even a part of the voting up until a few weeks ago.  Expect this one to stay at the head of the list for at least the next month.  I think I even saw a sale for the actual game on a retail store level recently too.  This sucker is gathering steam.

The next big jump, NCAA Football 14 was spurned upwards 100% by Snoop Dogg.  For those who don’t know, the Snoop took to this Twitter feed over the past week and implored people to vote for this game to be a part of BC.  And at least by the fans, they responded.  I still don’t give it a big chance to make it, but at 6000 votes and counting, people are taking notice.  EA and Microsoft included.

Fable Anniversary also had a big jump, but I’m starting to question if that was just an error on my part, along with one of the bottom five.  I really wasn’t try to keep an accurate count and maybe my finger slipped.  Or maybe Fable I just had a big jump.  I’ll just mark this one for now until I’m sure its consistent growth.

Outrun Online Arcade also jumped by nearly 15% percent this week, but its delisted as previously explained.  And its only 56 votes increase.  Maybe if it starts jumping like Deadpool, somebody will start to care.  In this same category is the Rumble Roses jump as in, its nice that it got a 8% bump.  But still nobody cares.

In the series games that both received a nice bump, we have Rainbow Six Vegas and Overlord.  Overlord still has a small chance as we aren’t talking that much in an increase but Rainbow Six I think its a safe bet that these two are going to make it in.

Other noteables would have to be the tandem of Mafia II and Bully.  Bully had a nice sale this week (you can pick it up digitally for less than 4 bucks), and Mafia II really stands as a fantastic game with the one of the best video game stories in the modern era.  Hopefully these two continue to get good pushes, though in my opinion both should make Backwards compatibility easily.

Before I start the Bottom Five, I did want to point out several titles that had really poor increases this week (just not poor enough to make the bottom 5).  They are Alan Wake, Star Ocean, Nier, and Lost Odyssey, all titles in the 50% to 99% range that I predicted.  People already know that Alan Wake and Lost Odyssey have a near perfect chance being Microsoft Studio titles is my guess for those two.  Nier & Star Ocean?  Those are far from locks though.  In fact, this hurts them quite a bit and if this continues a revision might be in order.

The Bottom Five are distressing for sure, especially since one of them is a Microsoft published title.  For those who have not played it Outpost Kaloki X is really a good game.  But sadly nobody has heard of it.  Here, do me a favor for people who are curious.  Go buy the Xbox Live Arcade Unplugged Disc, its super cheap and can be had for about $5 from Ebay and probably Gamestop too.  Play Kaloki and report back to me.

As for the others, nobody cares about Sam & Max due to the ridiculous price tag of $20 a piece.  That’s the hard facts.  If you ever needed a bigger reason not to have $20 Arcade titles, there you go.  The latest Sherlock Holmes game is disappointing in votes but not unexpected. The last one, Lucha Libre AAA is an abnormality of sorts as it actually went down in votes.  Again, maybe I typed it in incorrectly (as all of this typed in) and this will be corrected in upcoming weeks.  Or maybe there is a secret conspiracy afoot launched by Donald Trump to keep Mexican Wrestling away from the Xbox One.

Anyway, bad political humor aside, I hope you have enjoyed this analysis which I hope to do weekly.  Take care.
