Comments and Analysis

Immediately upon looking at the top 15, I see two very familiar faces.  Number one belongs to Deadpool who increased his total by over 500 votes to take the top spot.  Over two thousand votes and if he keeps this pace up, maybe…okay I’m not going to hold my breath.  But its a good sign nevertheless.  Next is Snoop’s favorite, NCAA Football 14 and as long as licensing is not an issue for EA Sports, it should make backwards compatibility.  The strong push in the last two weeks does nothing but help it as well.

After that comes Outrun which is basically only there as people recognizing the legacy of the series (despite Sega burying it) and wishing for it to make a comeback on the XBox One.  I think a new title is more likely at this point and there is almost no chance at this point of that happening.  The Rainbow Six titles continue to shine as the first person shooters not named Call of Duty get some love.  Those two at this point should have no trouble making the qualified list.

A surprise entry did show up in the form of Driver: San Francisco at #6 which still has a low vote total.  No real reason for it, and I would not expect the title to show back up in the top 15.  But interesting nevertheless.  I was happy to see Skyrim make the list since to date it is still my one of my top 3 favorite 360 games ever released. (Fable II and Bioshock are the other two)

The two most popular Batman games make the list as well and for those who are curious the other Batman game, Origins was in the top 20.  In addition, the Fallouts make a showing as they will probably continue to do until the 4th game drops in stores.  (Then they will probably forget about them and play the new game).  Finally, Crysis 3 scrapes onto the bottom of our leaderboard in a little bit of a curious fashion since the second Crysis game was only #40 and the original was all the way down to #73.  Probably just the latest game with the most votes theory.

Before, we touch base on the bottom five, there are some disappointing games near the bottom of the list worth mentioning.  Primarily in the form of the two Condemned games, Nier, Alpha Protocol, and Star Ocean.  Especially the Condemned games, I personally have a strong affinity for the first game and found the story very impressive.  Unfortunately, the vote totals on these two games have slowed to a grinding halt.  And the other three deserve better, far better.  Go vote, seriously.  These are five that deserve some love on the boards.

The bottom five are mostly whipping boys and most of them with the exception of Outpost Kaloki, don’t really have a shot at backwards compatibility anyway.  I think Kaloki still has a chance but only because of the relationship between Ninja Bee and Microsoft.  It will be quietly released along with ten other titles that people actually want.  But when these titles are barely averaging a couple of votes a day, it’s hard even from a fanboy who wants every title possible to make it, to have any real reason to say hey this one should make it. The five in the previous paragraph, yes I can feel passionate about those.  But…these…I’m better off just keeping my Xbox 360 and finishing them off where necessary.

Anyway, that’s it for another week with analyzing some stats and seeing where things are headed.  I would hope Microsoft announces some more titles to make BC in the near future, certainly by the end of August.  Because the original twenty two are not going keep the users at bay, and the good faith by this announcement in the first place is going to get used up in a hurry.  We shall see though, we shall see.  Take care.
