10/30 Update on Backwards Compatibility Voting

Welcome to the 15th iteration of Backwards Compatibility Voting.  Of course, the big announcement this week was that there is finally a go live date for backwards compatibility on Xbox One.  November 12th.  Yes, in less than two weeks many of the 360 games we have talked about for months will be given the green light for play on the XB1.  As we have seen last week, and continuing a little bit this week, votes are picking up.  The odd thing as you will soon see is that they are not always in the expected places.

Top 19 this week, looks like 1.80% is the cutoff where as we were at 1.90% last week with the top 17.  However, there are a ton of games well above 2% and that’s where we’ll start.  Two of the usual contenders, Deadpool and Outrun are #1 and #4 this week.  If there are those curious about NCAA Football, it dropped all the way to #24.  I’m still playing my copy, but since it did reach 10,000 votes, it will probably trail off.

Who are these people voting for Diablo 3?  Earth to voters (including myself), this is not making BC.  Blizzard doesn’t care about last generation…heck depending on what day you ask them, they will tell you they only release Diablo on consoles to fund their PC adventures.  Of course, I’m sure that will fall on deaf ears, but I’ll continue.  Rumble Roses kept a very high spot this week, breaking the top 5 and if it wasn’t Konami, I might believe it has enough votes for consideration.  It really has outperformed what I thought originally it would do.

Bulletwitch and Raven are two games that came out of nowhere.  Raven got a healthy percentage last week as well and considering it was a past Games with Gold title, it might just have some traction for making it.  Of course in that same group, we got Stranglehold, Darkness 2 and Torchlight as well.  All three well done, but usually absent from this list.  Torchlight, a Microsoft produced title is probably making BC, but its anybody’s guess with the two Darkness titles and Stranglehold is probably not happening.

Tales from the Borderlands jumps up on this list again as the final episode is out and supposedly it’s quite good.  However, I don’t see Telltale giving out free upgrades, but I’ve been wrong before.  I was very happy to see the next two titles, and that was Divinity II, still gathering votes due to the new Divinity game out for XB1 and Saboteur, a ridiculously underrated open world game.  Both of those have a small but steady chance of making it in my opinion.  Outside of that, we see Crysis 3 popping back up, the Two Worlds titles (which will probably slide into BC), and the two Sherlock Holmes titles which pop up every so often, mostly due to their low vote totals.

Anyway, that’s pretty much it for this week, if you read my mid-week news you know that Dirt 3 and Dungeon Siege III will be 360 Games with Gold titles for November and as a result will also be Backwards Compatible.  DS3 will get an automatic download for me as the description Diablo lite is a shoe-in for my play style.  I probably should get started on my Wizard (remaining unplayed class) in Diablo 3 first.  Need to finish that sucker up before the year is out.  Also, check out my updated percentages on the BC Page or by downloading the spreadsheet.  I feel confident about those going forward through tracking the votes, reading the news and going with my gut.  We’ll see how it plays out.  Take care kids.
