Xbox Live Countdown Sale continuing December 29 – “Biggest sale ever”

This will be a little more of an extended column today (after the more link), but first let’s get to the Tuesday sales.  Oh, before I do that, I do want to apologize for not reporting South Park: Stick of Truth (which is BC Compatible) was on sale one day last week for $8 I think.  I was not near my computer, and my phone nor tablet would not log into the site for whatever silly reason (something about cookies which should not have been an issue).  Anyway, we do have a few games this week (BC) that are on sale (with Gold prices listed).

• Castle Crashers – $4.94
• Gears of War 2 – $9.99
• Gears of War 3 – $9.99
• Gears of War: Judgment – $9.99
• Supreme Commander 2 – $9.89

Good thing to note here but Gears 2,3 and Judgment can still (until the 31st) be free on your Xbox One if you play Gears of War: Ultimate Edition.  I played my copy (bought on Black Friday) last night and went through the first level.  Honestly, I had never played a Gears of War title before, and it handled pretty darn well.  With that said, it might be something of a downgrade to play the others once I get the codes, but it’s better than buying them at $10 a pop.  (And I only paid $15 for UE)

Another note sales wise, but Burnout Paradise is only $3 for Gold Members this week (confirmed to go Backwards compatible at some point).  I snatched that up, replacing my disc copy which I’m sure I will unload in the next few months once I get settled in my house.  I also did grab the deluxe version of Lego Gotham 3 last week for $11 and some change which was a fantastic price (even though I’m playing Lego: The Movie 360 version at the moment).

It was a nice Christmas gaming wise for me.  As mentioned, I did get a copy of Gears of War: Ultimate Edition (Black Friday), Dragon Age: Inquisition: Game of the Year (Black Friday), Fallout 4 (from the parents), Halo Xbox One controller (from the wife), Final Fantasy Type 0 HD (Amazon sale), Sherlock Holmes: Crimes and Punishment (Microsoft.com sale), and two copies of Witcher 3 (wife and mother-in-law).  As you could of guessed, I did over buy but in my defense I only over spent on one of those titles.

Yesterday, I corrected that mistake and Ebayed my copy of Dragon Age: Inquisition: Game of the Year (basically got my money back after fees).  With Witcher 3 and Fallout 4, there is no way I will have time for DA: Inquisition this upcoming year.  Furthermore, if I decide to re-buy and play it later, it will almost certainly be about 1/2 of what I payed for it.  The right decision in my opinion.

As mentioned though, I do have two copies of Witcher 3 for the Xbox One, brand new copies.  The wife and her mother unfortunately had a breakdown in communication.  Even though my sweet mother in law did offer to find the receipt, I told her not to worry about it and I would trade it to somebody for something :).  I have posted on TrueAchievements as well as DvdTalk but no biters as of yet.  Basically, I’m willing to trade one sealed copy of Witcher 3 for any of the following (all Xbox One):

Borderlands: The Handsome Collection

Divinity: Original Sin Enhanced Edition

Shadow of Mordor: Game of the Year Edition

I also have a sealed copy of Murdered: Soul Suspect for the 360 if somebody wants that.  I have no idea what to ask for that, but if you have an itch to play it we can probably figure out something.

Anyway, as mentioned previously I moved into a new house recently, and the Xbox One is finally in the living room.  The 360 has been moved off to the master bedroom and might eventually end up upstairs as a part of the movie room (or spare bedroom).  As such, not going into my backlog, I have basically three 360 games at this point I want to finish that to this point are not backwards compatible since they all have Xbox One ports (but I have no desire to rebuy unless I were to get it for free/$1).  Those are:

Diablo III: Reaper of Souls – One lousy achievement to 100%, my wizard is in the high 40’s and after 5 characters to level 70, this has become a complete drag to play.  I finished 500 bounties a while back due to playing the Crusader way conservatively (for the hardcore achievement) but I am completely burned out on this game.  I had a plan of finishing it this year, but I moved, and got an Xbox One, so it has not been a high priority on my list.

Lego: The Movie – Bought this when I only had a 360 for $5 digitally.  Started this about a week ago I’m through the first five levels.  Pretty much like every Lego game on the planet where you play through the story, and then grind your butt off in Free play to get everything else.  It’s fun, just nothing ground breaking.  I’m keeping my fingers crossed that I don’t run into glitches on the way to 100%.  I’m looking at you very first Lego Batman.

The Wolf Among Us: Season One –  This one was also bought digitally, I think I payed $7.49.  Much like Lego: The Movie, I’m kicking myself now because its fairly cheap on the Xbox One but I don’t want to rebuy (and there is no way to sell a digital copy).  The problem is that this one is on the backburner until I play through all five episodes of Tales of the Borderlands (just finished Episode 1 last night, absolutely fantastic).

After those three games, I will probably move on to whatever is not backwards compatible to the Xbox One.  Since the 360 will probably be moved upstairs in a month or so, it will end up being for those weekend nights when the wife and kiddo are asleep.

Speaking of which, we’ll end the column with a question to my readers…I need a recommendation for some headphones that a)work on both my xbox one and 360 and b)don’t make my head uncomfortable or break out in terrible sweats after only half an hour of playing.  Feel free to leave your comments below, and take care.
