Games with Gold for Month of July 2018
Looks like the new Games with Gold are being announced today. This month did not get much better to be frankly honest. I don’t even know what to make of the Xbox One games. And to be honest, the 360 games are not my cup of tea. Virtua Fighter V is a technical fighter junkie’s dream but that’s not anywhere near how I describe myself when it comes to games (RPG/Hack n Slash/StoryTelling Junkie if you are curious). Splinter Cell, I’m a little more curious and might throw it in the backlog. Hopefully one of the two games for Xbox One surprises me because there is little here to be happy about. Enjoy.
Xbox One
- Assault Android Cactus (July 1st-31st)
- Death Squared (July 16th – August 15th)
Xbox 360
- Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown (July 1st-15th)
- Splinter Cell Conviction (July 16th-31st)
Sensible World of Soccer, GRID Autosport, and Fable Heroes added to Backwards Compatibility!!!
I did read the Codemasters rumor earlier in the day, but alas did not report on it because I knew that I’d probably be wrong which games it would be. Because I was simply dreading yet another racing game which will probably end up being a future GWG. The soccer one makes sense too I suppose with the World Cup and everything. Fable Heroes, I played the demo a couple of times and was very unimpressed. I guess if they knock it down to $5 or something, I’ll probably be bamboozled into trying it a third time. I just was hoping with a Codemasters rumor that we might actually get the Overlord games.. That would certainly be a welcome surprise. Enjoy kids.
- Sensible World of Soccer $9.99
- GRID Autosport $24.99 (Cheaper on retail disc)
- DLC w/Achievements: Sprint Pack $5.99
- DLC w/Achievements: Touring Legends Pack $12.99
- DLC w/Achievements: Drag Pack $4.99
- Fable Heroes $9.99
BC Deals with Gold for the Week of June 26th, 2018
Welp, got my second hardcore character to 70 in Diablo 3. This one actually counts since it happened on my Xbox One and not my 360. So 2 achievements left. Treasure Goblins (up to 81 now with 19 to go) and bounties (42% according to the ticker, so I have ~290 bounties left). So, at this point I’ll probably take a little break and play something else or finish up something I had left over (like my third playthrough of Oxenfree). If I don’t, I’ll get 50 to 100 bounties in to it and start hating myself (and then stop playing for a year). The Goblins will happen while I do bounties, so I’m not concerned about that.
I would love to say we have some 360 deals today, but that is not the case yet. There are a few XB1 offers that might warrant more than a glance. But I’ll respond back later in case there are some 360 sales or perhaps a new BC game for us to talk about. Take care and have a good week.
EDIT: June 27th, 2018 11:00am update. The 360 Deals are finally live. Great if you enjoy Sonic, not really much else. Enjoy.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 added to Backwards Compatibility!
It’s a Call of Duty game…cause we have never seen that before /sarcasm. I know I should be more happy, if nothing else the COD trolls are running out of things to complain about (I think they are down to just MW2). And it is a Tekken Tag special this week too. It’s just hard when the BC library is so crowded with COD titles and not enough RPGs. Well, enjoy kids.

BC Deals with Gold for the Week of June 19th, 2018
So, I would like to say I started a new game last week but the best I could muster was about an hour of Lego Indiana Jones 2 before I remembered that playing the older Lego games is usually an exercise in frustration. And LIJ2 was no different. I spent most of the gaming time in the last week playing Diablo III. Hardcore character up to level 57, have 30% of the bounties and 2/3rds of the treasure goblins for the remaining three achievements. Needless to say but the bounties will be the slog. I would imagine the Hardcore will take only a couple more weeks, and maybe the treasure goblins sometime after that. But bounties? Maybe the end of the year and that’s if I keep at it which I usually don’t.
Anyway, we are back to something resembling a normal sale this week. Though most of the games on sale are not BC. Maybe this means we get a few new BC games, I sure would like to see RAW and Final Exam make that list off the sale page today. We shall see I guess, enjoy.
Jurassic Park: The Game | Games On Demand | 80% | $3.99 |
Sam & Max Beyond Time and Space | Arcade | 80% | $1.99 |
Sam & Max Save the World | Arcade | 80% | $1.99 |

The Walking Dead: Michonne – Season Pass (Episodes 2-3) | Add-On | 60% | $3.19 |
The Walking Dead: Season Two – Season Pass | Add-On | 75% | $3.74 |
BC Deals with Gold for the Week of June 12th, 2018
Well, last weekend I did decide to play a short game called World II: Hunting Boss and soundly beat it in about 5 hours. At least I only paid $1.80 for it. I have been playing some Diablo III (Xbox One version) as well. I’m about level 40 with my hardcore character and 100 bounties into the 500 for achievement. I’d like to say I would complete it before the end of the year (I know I could given the right circumstances), but I’ll keep it casual and do 4-8 bounties and then go do something else.
So, it is E3 week and we had a bunch of sales posted last week (anything that’s an E3 is lasting two weeks). I picked up the first 2 Saints Row titles and almost bought Gat out Of Hell too despite having the disc. But I didn’t. We don’t really have any new sales, but I don’t think anybody really expected any. Maybe they will throw in a surprise BC game for us this week, but probably just better off playing your old ones. Enjoy.
12:00PM Noon Update – Official Link from Major Nelson (nothing new to report)
Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, Midnight Club: LA, and Rockstar Table Tennis added to Backwards Compatibility!!!
Well, we knew it was coming, sorry about the late post…I was doing important things like having lunch with my wife which honestly hasn’t happened in a few weeks. Anyway, glad these three are here. I have San Andreas on digital, supposedly there is some issue with that currently but I expect that to be fixed by no later than tomorrow. Now, Rockstar has also come out and said that GTA and Midnight Club were supposed to work with the Xbox OG Discs as well which would be a revelation. But I’m guessing that was a typo. If it is the case though, maybe this opens the way for Vice City or III? (We can only hope) Anyway, links are below. Remember all three are on sale this week which makes even a little sweeter. Enjoy.
Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas* | Disc or Digital | 35% | $9.74 |
Midnight Club: Los Angeles Complete* | Disc or Digital | 35% | $9.74 |
Rockstar Table Tennis* | Disc or Digital | 60% | $5.99 |
Biggest Xbox Sale of the Year aka E3 Sale!!
I could spend a while talking about the sales but honestly I’ll just post it here for you guys to look at. This has been a hard week on me (for reasons I’m sure you could care less about) and I’m just not in the mood to blab endlessly on (I’ll save that for my RWBY Volume 5 review for tomorrow). Enjoy. Remember, the Rockstar Trio will be going to BC today (GTA: SA, Midnight Club LA and Table Tennis). But I’ll post that later as well. All sales after the — MORE — (and yes I am upset I bought Morrowind way too soon, oh well it’s really worth the $7.49 I have to say). Enjoy.

BC Deals with Gold for the Week of June 5th, 2018
Well, honestly I haven’t done much gaming this past week. Mostly because I’ve been working on blu-ray reviews or doing research for blu-ray reviews (I watched all four volumes of RWBY in about 2 weeks time in order to prepare for the 5th volume which I’m currently working on).
I did however accomplish one thing gaming wise that that bugged me for over a decade. The Dig achievement in Dig Dug. Yes, I know it sounds silly. But for some reason last week, I figured I would give it a shot in the Xbox One version. Five lives, no problem. Did it on the second try. I even died before completing the stage (dug the last block as I got killed) and it still popped. Well, heck the 360 version which I haven’t touched since ’07 can’t be that much different. Boy, was I wrong.
The 360 version of the achievement only gives you 3 lives. Plus, you have to beat the stage and there are glitches with the achievement too. It took me roughly 15 tries that day before I got it. I basically would try it 2 or 3 times, then get frustrated, go off and do some fatherly/husband type thing and then try it again a couple of hours later. Rinse, repeat. Finally, right after my son went to bed, I got it on my second try. I finally 100% Dig Dug (360) after over 10 years. Lego Batman (360) had been my previous longest completion, welp Dig Dug surpassed it.
Anyway, we have sales. What’s cool about this sale is that 3 of the 4 games I’m going to list aren’t actually BC yet, but probably will be at 11:00am noon today (CST). So it’s a Tekken Tag Team 2 Special, but kinda in reverse. I already have San Andreas, but I would be all over Midnight Club or Table Tennis if those games interested me. Still, it’s really good of Rockstar to offer these on sale the same week as they go BC. Enjoy.
