9/25 Update on Backwards Compatibility Voting

Welcome to the 10th iteration of Backwards Compatibility Voting. Since I got my Xbox One, basically all I have done is play with some apps, download plenty of stuff, and play Pinball FX2.  Not exactly a productive way to showoff the system, but it has been fun nevertheless.  I did however get an invite for a Closed Beta to Fable Legends and the stress test is from 2pm to 6pm on Saturday.  Odd timing if you ask me, but if I’m around I will give it a shot.  Anyway, on to some voting analysis.

9/18 Update on Backwards Compatibility Voting

Welcome to the 9th iteration of Backwards Compatibility Voting. Before we get on to voting, I will give you a couple of important events that did happen in the last week that were important to Backwards Compatibility. The first being that the Xbox 360 did get a system update and in that update, the cloud storage was increased to 2GB. This is important because one of the most important features of backwards compatibility is to import our old game saves. And the only way to do that is through the cloud. So, they had to up it…they really had no choice but to increase it from 512mb to 2gigs. Personally I would have liked to see 5 gigs, but its a huge step in the right direction. The second part is personal and dear to me, I finally got a Xbox One. More inside.

9/4 Update on Backwards Compatibility Voting

Welcome to the 7th iteration of Backwards Compatibility Voting. Much like last week, voting was slow despite some interesting news involving the likes of Deadpool and Borderlands.  It just goes to show you that if we really expect a decent # of votes, we are going to have to get some decent news.  But we got some numbers and some analysis, lets get to the show.

Borderlands Officially Announced as Backwards Compatible!

In this Article by IGN, we can now confirm that Borderlands has been made Backwards Compatible to the XB1 including ALL DLC, Saved Game files, etc.  Excellent news, especially after the depressing Deadpool announcement this week.  Furthermore, Preview members will be able to enjoy Borderlands now :).  Great stuff, I look forward to playing it on my Xbox One soon when I get a Xbox One (September 15) and when I get my copy of Borderlands out of storage (probably October-November).  Enjoy kids.

Deadpool coming to the Xbox One (and PS4 too)

Per Kotaku and several other confirmed sources, Activision is going to re-release Deadpool to the Xbox One and Playstation 4 platforms.  As mentioned previously, Deadpool has been racking up votes in Backwards Compatibility and Activision did what they always do, try to make money off of it.  So at $50 (yeah you read that right), they will re-release the game with all of the DLC and two new levels.  I’m frustrated with this, I did not need two new levels, I just wanted the game I already own to work on my Xbox One.   So, with this announcement, I am dropping any Activision game to 1% probability of making the BC pool.  I had a small shred of hope that they would do the right thing with Deadpool or perhaps Gun, but I was wrong.  So wrong.  Heck with Activision, I will make it a point to buy all of their games from now on, USED.   I hope no COD fans out there think that Activision won’t make a collection of those in short order on the XB1 as well. It’s coming, just a matter of timing.
