This Week’s Deals with Gold and Spotlight Sale plus Black Friday/Cyber Monday Sales

This week, outside of being ridiculously busy, I decided to hold back the sales post until the Black Friday sales were a part of it which I knew were coming.  Furthermore, it’s taking me a lot of effort to put in these sales and I think a simple link would probably be best going forward.  Besides, I plan to revamp the site a bit soon and this will probably be one of the causalities.  I honestly am not sure if anyone really appreciates it and it might be better if this just serves as a blog for reviews, writing, and random thoughts.

I am still playing Streets of Rogue, I am up to 48 of the 50 achievements leaving just a couple at this point.  Basically, it will just require beating the game one last time to get the bad ending and then I’ll be done.  I don’t really have a “next” game in mind currently.  I would like to find time to go back and finish off Broken Sword V and Tell Me Why properly (at least the former), but we’ll see what happens.  I might just jump into another game where I can play it for 20 to 30 minutes at a time instead of trying to find time for a 2 hour session (which I never seem to have these days) which is what Broken Sword and Tell Me Why are going to require.

I will say the site does have an Instagram now (click the link at the top) but will be mostly dedicated to various media purchases I make.  However, some might find it interesting as we move forward.

Alright, so here are the sales –

A general warning, be sure to check previous pricing if possible….some of these I believe have been cheaper (or the same) in the past and these kind of sales usually are for the casual and not the one who has been hoping for “X” game to go on sale.  With that said, the Oblivion prices for the DLC are probably the best I have seen at a mere $2.99 for Shivering Isles (and $1.49 for Knights of Nine).  Lots of Tom Clancy and lots of Fallout are also here.  But as I say many times, if you don’t have the Fallout GOTY/Ultimate discs, something is seriously wrong with you (or you are just not able to collect physical media perhaps).  Anyway, just go slow, make a list of what you want and then do some research before finalizing your purchases.  Have a good week and enjoy.

BC Deals with Gold for the Week of November 12th, 2020

So I was able to finish Town of Light over the past week.  As mentioned, I didn’t go all the way through the second playthrough just long enough to get the remaining three achievements.  It just didn’t seem worth it to be honest despite enjoying the game.  I did start a new game called Streets of Rogue which is wonderful GTA (think the originals) throwback with rogue lite/procedural type levels which almost always hook me in.  I actually already have 32 of the 50 achievements but the last 18 are going to require some work certainly.

Here are the sales which certainly has some interesting ones if you are willing to take the time to look at it.  MX Unleashed is actually finally on sale when all of its sequels were on sale in previous weeks.  A couple of DLC packages are also included which is appreciated (wish one was Costume Quest but I digress).  So it’s probably worth taking the time to go through it, have a fun rest of your week.  Enjoy.

BC Deals with Gold for the Week of November 3rd, 2020

Well, I did finish Town of Light over the weekend in terms of first time through the story.  Chapter 15 was incredibly brutal, it was one of those I could have lived the rest of my life and did not need to see that ending sequence.  That leaves 3 achievements which are received for going a different path after Chapter 5.  I will be stopping after those achievements, I don’t really need to go through Chapter 15 nor that school sequence (Chapter 13) again regardless of any changes it might have on the story.  I should have that done this weekend.  After that, I will move on to something else, it’s a good walking simulator but I have enough issues with bad dreams.

So, we do have some sales this week.  Okay, not really it just sounded good in my head when I put it on the page.  Just de Blob 2 which was a GWG a while back and Frontlines which arguably could be one soon.  Perhaps look at some of the Xbox One sales and see if anything interests you.  Take care and have a good week.  Enjoy.

Games with Gold for Month of November 2020

Looks like the new Games with Gold were announced yesterday.   I would like to say that a lot of this actually interests me but I think I would be lying.  Aragami does look interesting and it reminds me a lot of Okami but in a much more violent way.  Swimsanity, I sincerely doubt I will like and at this point with the Xbox Originals, I feel like I’m just collecting the set. Lego Indiana Jones will probably inspire me to play one more level before realizing how much I freaking hated it the first 2 or 3 times around and then forget about it again.  It is one of the worst Lego Games, only to be outdone by its sequel (which is even worse if that’s believable).  It’s a forgettable month, but at least try to grab Aragami if nothing else.  Enjoy.

Xbox One

  • Aragami: Shadow Edition (November 1st – November 30th)
  • Swimsanity! (November 16th – December 15th)

Xbox 360

  • Full Spectrum Warrior (XBO)  (November 1st – November 15th)
  • Lego Indiana Jones  (November 16th – November 30th)

BC Deals with Gold for the Week of October 26th, 2020

Well, I do have some gaming news to report.  I did get through the 3rd episode of Tell Me Why and I am down to 2 achievements left.  However, I got kinda of a weird ending compared to what everybody else received so I might need to replay the third episode by itself again and then go back and do the second play through for the last achievement.  I should be able to finish that in November I’m hoping.

I did also start Town of Light, it’s a walking simulator with some very disturbing scenery and story matter.  I’m about a 1/3rd thru the game at the moment.  I don’t expect it will take too much effort but I’ll get it done in a week or two as well.  I don’t love it, but again, it’s one of those story things that interests me enough to keep playing.

We do have a decent crop of sales this week.  Unfortunately no Costume Quest DLC again, I’ll give it one more week before I stop talking about it.  We do actually have a sale on Aliens vs Predator as well as just about every Castlevania or Star Wars game (including all of the Xbox Originals) we could want.  They always seem to miss the boat on DLC though.  People who buy DLC typically buy it either at launch (or shortly after) OR if it hits a sale.  Otherwise it sits.  The only other times it maybe moves is if people buy a game on sale and decide to go ahead and chip in for the DLC, but that’s rare.  Also, Condemned is doing its usual sale glitch where in the US it’s not on sale but it is supposed to be.  Anyway, take a look at these deals, maybe one sparks an interest.  Enjoy.

BC Deals with Gold for the Week of October 20th, 2020

Yes, I know this is very late.  Until late yesterday, I was flooded with work and had almost no space to write anything in unless I did it at night when I was very tired.  No excuse, agreed.  I did get through Brothers in the past week, I made sure to actually finish the game not just the achievements (which the last one is actually in Chapter 6).  It was a nice story, though traumatic and heart wrenching for sure.  Looking through my disc games, I’m thinking the next one I want to play is probably Town of Light.  I will also be getting through Tell Me Why eventually (as well as Broken Sword V), but like many things these days, it just takes time.  Heck, I read about 1 book a month these days on typical, I used to average one every two weeks easily.

Here is this week’s list of games.  I was really hoping we would get a sale on the DLC for Costume Quest since it is the current freebie but maybe that will come next week.  Lots of Fallout to enjoy if you haven’t got the GOTY/Deluxe versions (which are great investments btw).  There isn’t too much outside of that unfortunately.  I did find some interesting things on the Xbox One side, but I might just save my money for another week.  I am having fun going through my disc games to make space for the inevitable several that I’ll buy or get as Christmas presents this holiday season.  Hope you are having a better second half of the year.  Take care and enjoy.

BC Deals with Gold for the Week of October 14th, 2020

So, I powered through the hardcore play through of Redeemer.  After that, I wasn’t too keen on playing it for a third time (even on Easy) to get the last two achievements (both specific to a certain level).  So rather than waste the time playing it again, I just decided heck I’ll try to do both of them on hardcore.  And I did, I got the Level 9 achievement fairly easily once I actually tried.  Now the Level 12 achievement took a little more work but I would say I got it down in about 3 tries.  So it’s done and on to something else.

I did start the 3rd episode of Tell Me Why, I think I’m about half way through but it’s not always easy to tell.  I am also taking a look at my physical disc backlog and decided to start a game called Brothers.  It’s supposed to be fairly easy and I went through the Prologue last night.  I might have a little problem with the dynamics of it but I think I can be successful.  We’ll see.  If I am still stuck in the early part of the game (say I’m still in Chapter 2 or something, then we know we got problems).

Sorry I did not post the sales yesterday, but here they are.

It’s a little bit of a shame that Sniper or some of these others were not made Backwards compatible.  Instead all we are left with is the semi-usual assortment of Far Cry and Sonic.  But we can’t expect too much more as we limp into the end of the year.  I would not be surprised if the 360 sales are abandoned with the new year.  Maybe we’ll get one or two more surprises but I kinda doubt it.  Take care and enjoy.

BC Deals with Gold for the Week of October 6th, 2020

Time always seems so darn short it seems.  My only gaming last week was limited to running through a few levels of my hardcore run with Redeemer.  I’m about 2/3rds through but the later levels take so darn long typically that it could very well take me two more weeks to finish.  I will probably try to find a game that takes 2, 3 hours max and finish that in between to make Redeemer not feel like such a chore (which it is at this point with three achievements left).  Hopefully I get back to Tell Me Why within that time frame as well.

The sales this week are comprised of two things: Assassin’s Creed and Call of Juarez.  No, that’s really all there is.  Oh wait, this is confusing.  If you dig inside the actual Xbox One sale list, there are 360 games as well.  What’s worse, the link they use for those games goes to the Xbox One side of things, not the more reliable 360 side.  Get your act together guys, geez.  Lego Batman 2 and Mars: War Logs show up in the other list.  Forgive the list below (I did fix the links) if it doesn’t seem in order, I had to patch it together of sorts.  Anyway, hope you find a game this week that interests you.  Enjoy.

Game Content Type % Price
Assassin’s Creed III Backward Compatible 60% $5.99
Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag – Freedom Cry Add-On 60% $2.99

Games with Gold for Month of October 2020

Looks like the new Games with Gold were announced yesterday.   It seems like a decent month as Slayaway Camp seems to not be too hard but worth the playthrough.  Maid of Sker looks fantastic and can arguably be worth an entire month of Gold by itself.  The Xbox 360 side does have me bummed a bit with yet another Xbox Original (with no achievements) and then Costume Quest which I have bought and beat last year.  It would be nice however if we could get the DLC at a tiny discount if nothing else.  We’ll have to see, but decent month especially for those who do not have Costume Quest already as it is a very good game.  Enjoy.

Xbox One

  • Slayaway Camp: Butcher’s Cut (October 1st – October 31st)
  • Maid of Sker (October 16th – November 15th)

Xbox 360

  • Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy (XBO)  (October 1st – October 15th)
  • Costume Quest  (October 16th – October 31st)

BC Deals with Gold for the Week of September 29th, 2020

Sorry, about the lateness of this, I’m being hammered by work lately.  Well I did finish the second episode of Tell Me Why, it was not as gripping as the first episode was.  In fact, it felt more like it was pushing some sort of agenda as opposed to actual gameplay.  But I will pick it up again this weekend and start the third episode.  However, the third episode is dependent on playing the story twice in order to get all of the achievements, so I’m not thrilled about that.  The rest of the achievements do not sound difficult thankfully.

I also started the hardcore run of Redeemer, and I’m through the first four stages (out of 15).  I’m doing a lot of rerunning stages to level up my skills as I have a feeling that last few stages will be ridiculously hard.  After that, I’ll have two achievements left, but I can get those on an easy run and I’m not overly concerned about them at this time.

We don’t have any real sales this week, sad to say.  On the Xbox One side, there was an Artifex Mundi game for $1.49 that I didn’t have so I grabbed that.  It’s sad that these days I don’t have much time to play because I’m working so much and then I’m absolutely beat to heck once I turn my work computer off.  This pandemic has made me a work-a-holic and it stinks.  From a family perspective, from a gaming perspective, from a movie perspective too.  I listen to a good chunk of music during work and when I’m trying to fall asleep at night so that’s okay but everything else seems to be taking a toll.  Well, try to enjoy your week more than I do mine, and take care.
