9/18 Update on Backwards Compatibility Voting

Welcome to the 9th iteration of Backwards Compatibility Voting. Before we get on to voting, I will give you a couple of important events that did happen in the last week that were important to Backwards Compatibility. The first being that the Xbox 360 did get a system update and in that update, the cloud storage was increased to 2GB. This is important because one of the most important features of backwards compatibility is to import our old game saves. And the only way to do that is through the cloud. So, they had to up it…they really had no choice but to increase it from 512mb to 2gigs. Personally I would have liked to see 5 gigs, but its a huge step in the right direction. The second part is personal and dear to me, I finally got a Xbox One. More inside.

Before I get to the numbers, as mentioned in the header, I did get a Xbox One.  It was pre-ordered because it was the Forza special edition with a gorgeous blue console and arguably the best controller and grips I have ever messed with in recent memory, also in a beautiful blue.  I’m not a racing fan as you can tell by my choice of games, but the look is dynamite.  Even though I am still trying to figure out what to do with my Forza digital download card (and several pieces of DLC), I have already plugged in the console and spent a lot of time updating and just exploring the console.

I’ve downloaded a few games I have saved to my Games with Gold over the last few months and imported all of my Pinball Fx2 tables.  Of course, I have my video apps like Hulu (which automatically imports your ID, bonus!), Amazon Video (just required me to login), and HBOGO(had to go through the whole darn activation again, boo!).  Wish Comcast would get their head out of their rear and bring back their app, but I digress.

Anyway, it’s a worthwhile purchase even if I will probably split my time between the two consoles.  At least until Backwards compatibility is built up and there are fewer and fewer reasons to touch the old system.  But then I will still use the 360 as a media device since the most likely plan is for the Xbox One to be in the family room and the 360 to be in the game room.  Let’s talk more about voting alright?

So Deadpool was again #1, it even had a bigger jump than usual despite Activision and their announcement to just re-port it as opposed to going the simpler route and rewarding people for buying their game.  But #2 was very surprising, Worms: Ultimate Mayhem.  In fact, all of the Worms titles made the top 10.  Worms 2 as we are  aware is already BC to those in the preview program.  I happen to own the trilogy disc which has a ton of Worms 2 DLC on it, and I would hope that if all three did make it to BC, that the trilogy disc would be recognized easily.

NCAA Football 14 and Outrun make their usual lines in the sand and as I thought, Crysis 3 (now free on Games with Gold) slid into fifth.  Then it was a tale of which Jericho showed up this week since the game has been in the top 10 like here but also in the bottom 5.  It was also good to see Double Dragon Neon make another trip to the top 10.  I still need to play it though instead of it sitting in my game backlog.  (Just make it BC already!)

But #10-#15 screamed some roleplaying action with Overlord 2, Two Worlds II, Dragon Age 2 (I’m sensing a pattern),and Skyrim (for the pattern inclined, it’s the second Elder Scrolls game on the 360).  So a very two-ing role playing line of games.  Heck, there was even Rainbow Six Vegas 2 at number 15.  Literally, every game from #9-#15 was involved with the number two in some form or fashion.  This is the kind of stuff us statistics people love.

In the bottom five, its five of the usual ten to fifteen that we see down here.  Killer is Dead, Nier (which is sad), and some Sherlock Holmes.  I think going forward, we will just omit the actual table and maybe write a sentence or two.  I mean its featuring the underperformers when I should be highlighting those who rise to the top.  Anyway, for the next week, I will be exploring my new toy…errr Xbox One and I am sure I will have much more to say about it.  Take care and enjoy.
